Great suggestion! I used to compost in Somerville when I lived there - at my community garden. We have no green space now in Cambridge, so Whole Foods is where our scraps go. But the best is to do it at home and let your own scraps feed your new plants!

I know this is a late reply but i just started reading your blog. The city of Cambridge also offers home composting bins that are rodent resistant for $50. I am not sure if you can get them cheaper any where else Our place had one when we moved in and it is great to have all of that fresh dirt for planting in the spring on top of reducing waste!
