Private
Yoga
Working privately with an experienced
yoga instructor is a wonderful opportunity to quickly delve
deep into the heart of the yoga practice. Whether you're too busy to make
it to yoga class regularly, or new to yoga and want to learn
the basics at your own pace with one on one tutelage, or
in need of specific yoga therapy for an injury or condition,
private yoga sessions are an extremely useful and easy alternative
to traditional groups classes. I work with many
pregnant women privately, as well as busy executives, seniors,
and injured runners and athletes.
I primarily work with students in their
home or office because it is most convenient for them,
although I also have spaces I rent in Boston and Somerville
that are available at select times. Classes can be 60-90 minutes, and can range
from relaxing, restorative yoga with Pranassage (see below),
to vigorous strength-building yoga sessions. I bring
props with me - all you bring to your mat is you.
Pranassage is a creative synthesis of
yoga and bodywork that produces deep relaxation in the
receiver. I am
Certified by the originators of Pranassage, Amba and Don
Stapleton. I will physically move a student's body into a
flow of positions that allows them to feel each position
from the inside out. As the student shifts into interesting
movements and positions, they have the opportunity to witness
some forgotten possibilities for motion and action that provide
balance and relief throughout every part of their being.
10 session discount cards available on private
sessions.
Barrett comes to her teaching open to
the needs of her client. When I need
to explore my limits, or relax more, she is able to focus me in a gentle
and motivating way. The hour I spend with Barrett is a true retreat for
body and mind that extends out into my everyday life.
